Frequently Asked Questions

What is coaching?
What is coachingCoaching is an empowering process whereby a trained professional supports and guides an individual to make transformational changes in one or more area of their lives. Using techniques and models grounded in psychology, a coach can, amongst other things, help an individual identify future goals and a plan on how to achieve them, develop their existing strengths and skills, overcome limiting beliefs which prevent them from taking action or boost their confidence in a variety of settings or situations.
What coaching is not…
It’s not therapy or counselling, which is often about resolving past issues before being in a position to move on. Whilst there are times during the coaching process, we might look at what has been holding you back, coaching as opposed to therapy, is much more future focused.

Your coach is also not someone to use as a friend to offload to. Every conversation you have with your coach is a conversation with purpose, designed to move you towards taking action to your desired outcomes.

Coaching isn’t about giving you the answers to your problems; it’s about helping you find your own solutions to creating your future. You are the expert in your world, even if you don’t know it yet, and you have the ability and potential to get where you want to be. We’re not here to give you advice or tell you what you need or should be doing. Neither is the coach responsible for your results, if you choose not to implement the actions you have come up with then your coach will explore with you what might have got in the way of this, but they are not responsible for you not achieving a successful outcome.

Please note, coaching is not a replacement for professional psychological help. If you are experiencing any mental health difficulties, your first course of action is to speak with your GP before seeking out any other intervention.
